How does Semaglutide Work?

Giving you the how, what, when, and why of the newest weight loss doctor-prescribed medicine.

Medication that enhances your normal Biologic Function

Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, which means it mimics the function of the naturally occurring hormone GLP-1 in the body. GLP-1 is released by the intestines in response to food intake, and it helps regulate glucose metabolism by increasing insulin secretion. In addition, GLP-1 slows down the emptying of the stomach, making people feel fuller for longer periods of time. By doing so, it helps regulate appetite, reduce food intake, and increase feelings of fullness. Additionally, semaglutide has been shown to have other beneficial effects, such as improving insulin sensitivity and increasing the body’s metabolic level.

Our bodies have what is called a “Set Point” this is the weight we tend to hover around on the scale. When following the Semaglutide treatment plan, it will help your body develop a new “set point” as you lose weight.

Currently over 70% of American adults are obese or overweight, which can increase the health risks of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and has been linked to increased risk of certain types of cancer.

It has been shown that losing 5%-10% of body weight through diet and exercise is associated with a reduced risk of developing cardiovascular disease in adult patients who are obese or overweight.
